One of my favourite players is Wayne Rooney. He is playing for my fav club, Manchester United. I think his most valuable asset is his powerful shot. He is renowned for his stinging shots. Rooney has endorsement deals with lots of companies, such as Nike, Nokia, Ford, Asda and Coca-cola. Recently, he also appeared in a Tiger beer advertisement. This year, he has been awarded the PFA Players' Player of the year and the FWA Footballer of the year. Ths year, in an interview with former team-mate, now at Manchester City and Argentinian forward Carlos Tevez, Tevez said that Rooney "the best in the world, it is a privilege to play with him.".

He began his professional debut at the tender age of 17 and his first goal made him the youngest goalscorer at that time. He quickly became part of Everton's first team and spent 2 seasons at the Merseyside club, also the city rival of top-flight club Liverpool.
Before the start of the 2004-2005, the battle for his signature between Manchester United and Newcastle ended with Manchester United signing him for 25.6 million, a record which still stands for the highest amount ever paid for a teenager, that is, for a player under 20 years of age. Rooney was 18.

An embarrassing moment for Rooney was in September 2005 in a Champions' League clash with Villareal of Spain. The match ended in a goalless draw. Rooney was sent off for sarcastically clapping the referee who had booked him for an unintentional foul on a opponent.
