School Stuff

This is about a home learning assignment. I study in Hwa Chong Institution which has home learning. These are days when students do not have to go to school. Teachers post assignments in specific websites and students have to complete them on that day, online. This assignment is about English, about my learning styles.

I had better tell you my learning styles first. The higher the rating, the more skilled I am in that particular area.

I don't think my learning styles suit me a lot. I especially don't understand how I could get 11 over 25 for picture smart when I learn not by listening to words, but I learn by looking at pictures. When I think of a dog, a picture of a dog comes into my mind immediately, not the words "dog". 13 over 25 for music smart is plain ridiculous. Nearly everyone around me says that I have a flair for music. I was in my  primary school's chinese orchestra and now am also in Hwa Chong's chinese orchestra. I am grade 8 in a musical instrument, the guzheng. Grade 9 is the highest grade attainable. And I am only Secondary 1, not that I want to boast!

11 out of 25 for number smart is also quite nonsensical. I love maths because I love numbers and  solving problems and puzzles. I have always gotten A grade or above for maths, never below and when I stumble upon number puzzles or problems, I always try my hand out at solving them . I also love number puzzles like sudoku and kakuro.

Except for these three, I think the others are quite agreeable. I love nature and all things about it. I love animals, plants, even destructive natural forces like hurricanes, tsunamis and earthquakes. I have lots of encyclopedias about animals and even other books about animals like a book about birds, amazing facts about animals and even books on how to take care of pets like guinea pigs and rabbits.

I also love words. Don't get me wrong. I love words AND  pictures. I have lots of word games at home like Scrabble and Boggle. I also have lots of word search books. I love writing books and compositions and I have already published my first short book , Revenge of The Murderer .


I love working with others but sometimes on my own. I love playing both team games and individual games. I love am and skilled in soccer, a team sport and table tennis singles, an individual sport.

This is the second assignment for english home learning. It is about who I would want to be friends with in the story "Flowers For Algernon" if I had the chance.

I think I would want to be friends with Miss Kinnian. I like her as she is patient and has a heart of gold. She is also caring and kind. Miss Kinnian is patient as she teaches a class for slow adults. She would have to be patient as the slow adults learn, well, slowly and she could not lose her temper easily with them. Instead, she would have to be patient and repeat the same thing over and over again and maybe in even simpler terms so that they would understand what she was teling them. She would also have to have a heart of gold to be teaching slow adults. Otherwise, she could go out and find a better job then dealing with retarted people.
I think Miss Kinnian is caring and kind as when Charlie's intellect was deteriorating rapidly and he felt depressed, locked himself in his room and would not talk to anybody, she came to his room and tried to talk to him, to comfort him. She also paid the rent Charlie had accumulated over two weeks for him. Therefore, because of all these good points do I want to be friends with Miss Kinnian if I had the chance.
