Now is the most critical part of the season. Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal are the three main contenders for the Premier League Title. However, the more serious contenders are actually Manchester United and Chelsea. Manchester United have 76 points after playing 35 matches, the last one being a last-gasp 1-0 victory over city rivals Manchester City.
Chelsea have 77 points after 35 matches, the last being a dreadful 1-2 loss to fourth-place and the last Champion League spot contenders, Tottenham Hotspur, the same team which devastated Arsenal in their 34th match.
Arsenal are lagging behind at 71 points after 35 games and are not likely to win the Premier League, and any silverware for the fifth straight year. The last game they played was a humiliating 2-3 defeat at the hands of fellow strugglers Wigan Athletic. It was a crushing blow to their title hopes after their disappointing defeat at Tottenham.
After talking about the top of the table, we now drop right down to the bottom of the table. Who is going to be relegated?
Currently, Portsmouth, Burnley and Hull City. Portsmouth is already relegated because of going into administration, basically meaning that they have gone bankcrupt and therefore have to enter administration in order to prevent the whole club to be non-existent altogether. Because of going into administration, they suffer a loss of 9 POINTS, SENDING THEM TO THE BOTTOM OF THE TABLE AND INTO THE SECOND-DIVISION ON 15 POINTS, 14 POINTS ADRIFT OF SAFETY WITH ONLY 3 MATCHES LEFT TO PLAY. Aw... don't start crying, that is not the end yet. Portsmouth could give their aching bank accounts a boost by winning the F.A Cup. They are now in the finals after beating, surprise, surprise, TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR!!!
Burnley is second-last. I was surprised after seeing them perform so well at the start of the season, indeed, so well that they drew with Manchester United. Burnley just got promoted to the EPL this season. Seems like they are going to be demoted again. So sad.... They are also most likely to lose their last three matches; against Liverpool, Birmingham City and Tottenham Hotspur. Seems like they are doomed...
One place but sadly also 1 point above Burnley and still in the danger zone is Hull City. They were already not doing well since the middle of last season when they were first promoted to the EPL. Apparently their form has dropped again. But they are likely to get out of the danger zone as their last 3 games are against Sunderland, Wigan and Liverpool.
